Spanish Language and Cultural Immersion Program, Cartagena, Colombia

Promoted & Sponsored by

Cultural Immersion

This is a unique experience that can open doors to a deeper understanding of an unfamiliar place. You’re never going to know a place as intimately as the people who live there, but through cultural immersion experiences, you can begin to understand it all a little better.

Experience the vibrant, multicultural, Caribbean Coast city of Cartagena, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Spanish Language and Cultural Immersion Program will facilitate cross-cultural understanding and enrichment by providing a unique opportunity for: cultural immersion, intensive language study, exposure to academic classrooms settings, travel excursions, recreational adventures, and volunteering work. Students will participate in an intensive Spanish class about Colombian culture.

Volunteering is another way to connect over shared experiences and genuine emotions. By helping or working with a classroom of children you are not only helping a special cause, you’re also glimpsing a part of their culture that may not have been accessible otherwise.

Volunteering activities include but are not limited to: visit the Pontezuela Community and their public school, offer house painting services; visit the Bayunca Community, and host English workshops for kids at their public schools and engage in outdoor activities at the park, currently being built by Global Shapers. Students participating in the program will complete a total of 70 volunteering hours validated by the Spanish Honor Society.
